Tejano star Emilio Navaira knows what it’s like to almost lost his life to a car accident. Last weekend he used his music to help a family ripped apart by a recent crash. He and fellow musicians put together a concert at the Poteet Strawberry Festival to benefit the family of Margie Montemayor. Best Bets

The Second Chance Animal Shelter will conduct pet adoptions from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at PetSmart and Petco. The adoption fee for dogs is $120, which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, vet check and microchip.
